How to start a conversation on the phone with people you have not contacted for years

Hi Ted,

I'm very new in the Insurance industry and will be making phone calls to my warm market. The problem now is i'm an introvert and people knows me as an introvert. If i were to suddenly call them out of the blue, their mind will be thinking that I must be trying to sell them something especially Insurance and MLM products which is a common mindset. People will be surprised that i call them out of the blue to chat and invite them out for a coffee session. What should i say or how should my approach be? Should i be frank upfront that I'm providing financial planning services?

Contacting warm clients

First of all, if you are an introvert, you need to probably go to the Bob Davies behavior management section on our website or consider taking some type of toastmasters or Dale Carnegie course.

If not, then you need to understand that you need to take a positive position as an insurance agent. If you are calling people that you know, then let them know you are starting a new a career. You need to be proud of what you do, and your friends want to deal with someone that is strong and can assist them. If you are not proud of what you are doing, then you probably not in the right business.

Remember we are selling Money to people, not insurance. I am hoping you have a good insurance program, because if you don't believe in what you do and own the product and do your own financial plan, how can you really get fired up.
