For those of you who have subscribed to this site, you may have noticed some small changes in our website make up. None of the content has changed. It will just get better.

We are kicking off this new year with some exciting changes and additions.

We have recently added the open forum concept to our site and these will be showing up at the bottom of our key pages for you to ask questions and get comment back from our readers on specific subjects of your choice.

You will be able to host your own web page if you desire. As an example, a webpage on this health care reform would be interesting.

We also will be adding some new authors to our site to enhance your selling skills.

2010 should be a great year. Remember, make that one extra phone call before you leave the office.

Have a great day..Ted
P.S. The below link will take you to our upcoming topics page. You can see the open forum section located on bottom of page. Have a comment or request, just start typing.

Open Forum Pages Are On The Way.

Exciting News for all you bloggers and readers of this site that want to get involved in something exciting and new.

We have just added the open forums concept to our site. We will be including open forums on certain key pages. You will be able to Brainstorm, post topics, ask questions and get answers via these open forums. .

These forums will allow you the opportunity to ask a question or make a comment about key related topics such as prospecting, selling, closing, etc.

There is nothing to sign up for. You don't even need to leave your e-mail address if you don't want to. Just enter your topic and start typing.

The most exciting thing about this " is that it will let everyone get involved. Anyone of our readers can now ask for help and anyone of our readers can provide that help, and if nothing more we can now brainstorm selling and marketing ideas and concepts.

Every one needs a mentor.

The second exciting part of this forums concept, is that you will also be able to build your own web page, exclusive to you, so that you could refer clients or other agents to that page and they can personaly ask you questions.

Our first forums page will be located on our "upcoming topics" site page.

I will be sending this forum page out sometime this week. I look foward to your comments on that forum page and you will be able to see how it works.

We will then follow up with forum pages on many of our key topics and we all look foward to any and all of your comments, questions and responses.

I also see us setting up and developing an "ASK THE EXPERT" SECTION. We will be looking for experts to join us.

Looking foward to Brainstorming with You.

Our site is realtivly new, but if you can pass this link on to others, we will be gathering steam as we go down the track of succes. The more the merrier.

Have a Happy New Year...Ted

Fear of Rejection..How it Impacts Our life!

Believe it or not, the biggest single factor that stops people from becoming successful in life and moving on to bigger and better opportunities in life is the fear of failure.

I call it the Fear Factor.

I do not want to quit my job, even though I hate working here. FEAR FACTOR

I wonder what people will think of me if I changed careers. FEAR FACTOR

I do not think I can become an insurance agent because I would not be comfortable working on a commission type of income. FEAR FACTOR

I am afraid to ask my friends for an appointment to show them the type of work I do, selling insurance. FEAR FACTOR

I am afraid to ask for referred leads. FEAR FACTOR

I am afraid of being rejected when making phone calls. FEAR FACTOR

I once read that people who have come up with fantastic ideas were only stopped by the fear of success.

What does it really mean ?

Lets say you decided to start a widget company. However as you sat there and thought about it, you could see that this concept or product could really get big. You then start thinking How do I deal with bankers, shippers, marketing, and the time that will be needed to do all these things. Where do I really start?

Wow. That is too much for me handle. FEAR FACTOR SETS IN. (End of that success story.)

I have seen this fear factor surface when my agents had to make phone calls. They became reluctant because they did not want to be rejected.

What most agents need to be clear on is the fact that people are not rejecting you when they do not give you an interview or buy a policy from you. They are rejecting the situation. You need to learn how to make those situations pleasent.

People call us all the time and we look for reasons to say no, I am not interested. That is why you need to be very confident on the phone and in your interviews.

The key to success and confidence is knowledge power.

You need to learn to earn.

Fear is by far the biggest stumbling blocks to becoming successful. Learning how to deal with it can be the difference between success and failure, no matter what you do in life.

For those of you in the insurance business, or thinking about coming into the insurance business, check out our knowledge is power information page.

We have several articles that may help you create that extra amount of confidence you will need to get over the Fear Factor Hump.

Walk The Talk...Learning to Communicate is Different Than Listening.

Why should A life insurance agent want to better their communication skills?

Understanding how to communicate with your prospect in the very first opening interview will set the tone. It can become a very important aspect of selling insurance. Here is why!

To be a good life insurance agent, one must be able to properly communicate with your prospect. Many insurance sales training programs do not even discuss or even explain this insurance selling concept to insurance agents.

Learn to Listen

Listening:

I know this may seem like a crazy thing to include under insurance marketing ideas but it is probably the most under estimated aspect of being a successful sales person.

One of the biggest problems I always had with new agents was trying to have them be quiet at key times.

When you ask someone a question during the interview process, you need to give them time to think. They are sorting stuff out in their minds.

Wait for some type of response before you start talking again. Don't be answering for them. Let them think.

They say "that after you make your closing statement, to close a sale, he or she that speaks first buys." So if you make a close and then don't wait for the prospect to speak first, you bought back your product. When they speak first, they are going to tell you why or why not. Then you can close on the objection.

Once you learn this art of listening, you will be on your way to being a good sales person....LEARN TO LISTEN.

The Annual Review and Making Those Slow Months Work For You

Over the years, after I built up my client base, I decided to use my slow months to do my annual reviews. Because of the summer months and the days being longer, people would want to enjoy the outdoors more often in my part of country. During these months it seemed harder to get in front of new prospects to sell insurance. So I decided that I would call my existing client base during this time frame, as I never had a problem getting an appointment with my existing clients. I would then get together with them to sit down and do our annual review.

It was during these interviews and using this insurance marketing concept that I harvested those seeds I planted previously and also allowed me to build up my inventory of referred leads.

Selling During the Holidays

I want to wish everyone who views our website a Happy Holiday.

I also want to comment on this time of year when it comes to selling. I have had many agents, those that were not on our team, tell me that they pretty much shut down during any of the holidays because people won't see them. Well, I am here to tell you that is a myth.

During my 30 years in the business, our agency had its best months in December and January.

First of all it is attitude. Your attitude. People during these next two months are thinking about fresh starting their next year. They are generally in a better frame of mind which makes it easier to get an interview as well as many of them are available for daytime appointments.

Todays economic issues provides a greater opportunity to sell insurance, as many responsible parents will want to make sure that there are funds to take care of their family if one of them dies. Why, because they know it may be harder for the single parent to keep a job, find a job and so on. And it your job to get out there and make them aware of this.

Our product is a recession proof product. People want it in good times, but really need it in bad times. You also have the opportunity to get people to start thinking about setting money aside into an IRA. There are many opportunities to sell during the Holidays.

Put together your own recession financial package. Call people and tell them you are visiting with people about an inexpensive money concept to help them through these tough times. Put together a simple inexpensive term insurance package for the husband and wife. If you have not read our topic page on concept selling, you can do so by going to our home page and clicking on the Selling Techniques section and going to the concept selling topic page.

Rule number one is get the person as a client by selling them what they want and then you can sell them what they need once you have them for a client.

Don't become a Grinch and stay at home. Get out there and visit with the people. Happys Holidays and a Merry Christmas.
