Prospecting Newlyweds and Recent Child births

Hello,

Im a new agent just getting started. I want to start out on my prospecting by trying to reach out to those who have recently gotten married or have had a child. I see you've tried this method and you mentioned you had gone to the courthouse to get the info. Could you go into this a little further on how you generated prospects? Ive done some research about searching the records in my area but its telling me you need to have the name in order to search for marriage licenses and birth certificates. Which department did you go to? Were there any specific requirements in order to obtain the info? I would greatly appreciate your help.

Hi John;

Some of the rules have changed on a state by state basis. I would probably contact the court house where the newly weds get their marriage license and see exactly what their requirements are.

Additionally, I would check to see if any newspapers publish the names of newlyweds and/or new births.

And if court house says that the names are of new marriages are private, then you might ask how to get a freedom of information form from them.

Another great source is to contact the chamber of commerce. They usually publish what is called a green sheet. This provides a list of people buying houses, paying off loans, getting new loans and much more. Some chambers will require you to be a member to get that. Maybe you know someone who is a chamber member, and you can ask them to subscribe if you pay for it.
